I'm attaching the Credo from Missa Super Dixit Maria.
The top two parts, in measure 5, seem to be misprints. The C in the top part, surely, should be an A, and the alto 8th-note run should begin with F-E, not D-C.
Please look at the score and post thoughtful opinion. (Rants, here as elsewhere, are unwelcome).
There are a number of errors in the edition you attached, but I don't think this particular passage is one of them. Did you find an edition with the other reading?
I didn't find another edition with the reading I've proposed, but the voice-leading is (so far as I know, which isn't exhaustive) not typical of Hassler.
Leaps into dissonances and the alto repetition are not unfamiliar to Tallis or Lassus. They strike me as unfamiliar territory for Hassler, and I'm inclined to think the fact that this situation is so isolated (from the rest of the Missa Super Dixit Maria) argues in favor of consistency and a misprint.
