Summary of Position
The Director of Liturgy and Music at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in the heart of Raleigh, NC, is responsible for a vibrant music program that makes present the musical tradition of the universal church. The Director of Liturgy and Music serves under the supervision of the Pastor, assisting him in the administration of the liturgical life of the parish and school. The Second Vatical Council stated that "every liturgical celebration...is a sacred action surpassing all others," and is both the "source and summit of the Christian life. For this reason, the Director of Liturgy and Music has responsibilities of great significance for the faithful at Our Lady of Lourdes.

The Director of Liturgy and Music is responsible for collaborating with clergy, staff, ministry leaders, volunteers, and musicians to plan and execute parish liturgies and music for the glory of God and the sanctification of the faithful. The Director develops and directs liturgical ministers and musicians to provide leadership on Sundays and other special liturgies that will lead parishioners "to that full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations called for by the very nature of the liturgy" (Sacrosanctum Concilium #14). The ideal will be a proficient organist with vocal and choral experience, a practicing Catholic in good standing with a love for the sacred liturgy and the traditions of the church. Qualifications
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in music preferred
• Choral director and organist experience
• Knowledge of congregational Proper Antiphons repertory in English (especially for the introit and communion)
• Music Engraving Software facility
• Active member in good standing of the Roman Catholic Church, living in a manner consistent with Catholic moral principles
• Comprehensive understanding of liturgical documents including the GIRM, Sacrosanctum Concilium, Musicam Sacram, and other liturgical texts.
• Proficiency in Gregorian chant preferred
