The mission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. In the faithful pursuit of this mission, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill is seeking a Director of Evangelization (DoE). Through initiative, creativity, and a keen sense of ownership, the DoE oversees all Communications and Religious Education equities for the Parish. St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Capitol Hill is seeking a creative, energetic, self-starting, and skilled Communications and Religious Education professional to join our pastoral staff. The DoE will oversee all Religious Education efforts as well as all digital and print communication platforms to inform the Capitol Hill community about all education, ministry, and outreach events/opportunities. The successful candidate will have a solid background in Catholic Church teachings and theology and bring years of education, experience, knowledge, and positive energy to foster parish-wide catechesis while managing a broad swath of regular communication venues. With daily contact with the pastor, the new hire will work collaboratively with existing pastoral staff, ministry leaders, Capitol Hill partners, and Diocesan experts to bring the Good News to our broad and diverse community using all education and communication tools available.
Working with the Pastor, staff, Parish council, and parishioners, the DoE is responsible to develop and manage a strategic education and communications plan to ensure synergy across all parish ministries and fidelity to our parish’s goals.
The ideal candidate would be a practicing Catholic in good standing and active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community in Washington, DC, with a combination of education and experience related to theology/communications as well as a demonstrable history of excellence and initiative. This is a full-time, salaried position, with a competitive salary and benefits. Flexible work hours are mandatory.
