St. John Paul II Area Faith Community is made up of three Catholic parishes located ~40 miles to the west and southwest of Minneapolis (Holy Trinity in Winsted, Holy Family in Silver Lake, and St. Pius X in Glencoe). Holy Trinity Catholic School is located in Winsted, MN, a successful manufacturing community with 2,180 residents. Holy Trinity boasts a rich tradition dating back to 1883. We offer an authentically Catholic education, seeking to fully prepare students for their God-given vocations in life and ultimately, to prepare them for the eternal vocation of union with God and his family in heaven.
St. John Paul II Area Faith Community is seeking a full-time music director position (with choir director responsibilities at Holy Trinity School to fill out a full-time contract).
Objective: To plan sacred music and provide training for musicians in the St. John Paul II Area Faith Community. To play organ for and direct the choir (seasonally) at Holy Trinity Parish. To provide instruction in choir and vocal performance for middle school and high school students at Holy Trinity School in accordance with the school/parish mission statement, philosophy, handbooks, curriculums and directions established by the principal and pastor.
Develops and implements the vision/mission of the parish/school through fostering an authentically Catholic environment and excellence in Catholic liturgical worship.
· Demonstrate competence in organ accompaniment, cantoring, and choir direction.
· Possess knowledge of and appreciation for the Church’s vision of sacred music, including Gregorian chant.
· Use good “people skills”, especially with Area Faith musicians and choir members.
· Use effective, appropriate student /classroom management skills.
· Enforces disciplinary policies and procedures with students.
· Instruct and access student using a variety of methods and tools.
· Plan and implement instructional lessons
Qualifications
· An active, practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church who is able to provide a credible witness to the Catholic Faith.
· A commitment to the importance and mission of Catholic schools
· BA/BS degree; Education degree and MN State teacher licensure preferred but not required
· Pass background checks
· Exhibit competence in age appropriate instructional methods and knowledge of subject matter being taught
