    Saint Mary Catholic Church in Marion, Ohio seeks a full-time Director of Music.

    The Director of Music works with the Pastor and parishioners to offer a full array of beautiful, reverent, and prayerful sacred music in accord with relevant liturgical documents, drawing on the full continuum of the Western Church’s musical heritage, as embodied in the Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite. He/she plans and leads an integrated program of hymnody, chant, polyphony, and organ literature from various periods, with texts in English, Latin, and Spanish, serving as organist for all liturgies.

    There is one Saturday evening Mass and three Sunday Masses, one of which is in Spanish. One school Mass per week. II/20 Wicks organ (1975) with upgrades, in the choir loft, new console being planned. I/4 Zimmer tracker organ in the South transept.

    There is a mixed adult choir of 16 members, a men’s choir of 9 members, and a funeral choir of 10 members. A children’s choir is planned. During the school year, the Director offers specialized training in music to students in the parish school (not to exceed 6 hours per week).

    The Director of Sacred Music has an office in the Commons building and a workroom in the choir loft. The Director chairs the parish worship commission, which meets quarterly. Job offer is contingent on the successful passing of the mandatory background screening and completion of the VIRTUS “Protecting God’s Children” course.

    Compensation is commensurate with candidate’s experience. Minimum salary is $49,400, with additional income from funerals and weddings. We offer a full complement of benefits, including health, dental, vision, life, short & long-term disability, and matching 403(b). Full time benefits are according to Diocesan policy.
