Join us on Mardi Gras for Vespers of our patron saint, with chants from the 14th century Penpont Antiphoner. In addition to the English Psalms and hymns which all are invited to sing, experienced choral singers who are able to rehearse beforehand at 6:00 sharp are welcome to join the parish choir in the Magnificat from the First Service by the Tudor composer Thomas Thomkins, son of the organist at St David’s Cathedral in Wales.
Here's an invitation to sing Vespers for St. David of Wales at St. David of Wales Church this St. David's Day, March 1. Singers will meet in the rectory garage (6541 Esmond Ave, Richmond 94805, across the corner from the church's front door) at 5:00 to rehearse before singing the hour long service in the church at 6:10.
