Metrical Latin Mass Parts
  • Is anyone aware of any metrical Mass settings that have Latin lyrics?
  • Healey Willan's Mass of St. Teresa, which is in the New St. Basil Hymnal, comes to mind. I assume you mean something for unison voices, suitable for congregational singing?
  • Pietro Yon's "Mass of the Shepherds" is metrical and useable in parishes. If you are asking your question in a more general sense as opposed to settings specifically useful in a parish setting, pretty much any Mass composed between 1600 and 1960 will be metrical and in Latin...

  • I like Jules Brasil's Mass of St. Basil, aptly found in the St. Basil Hymnal.

Have a go with the Latin version of my Ascension Mass (Okay, it's really just my Mass in A, but Ascension is personal to me). Here's the unison score and MP3s. There are also SATB scores available (just ask).
