Since our old friend Charles Culbreth (d. 2018) was music director in Visalia, the naming of the new parish church for another Charles is a happy coincidence:
I think of Melofluent Charles every day and pray for his eternal rest. He was a passionate, compassionate, knowledgeable, and generous friend to us all.
While I am thrilled to observe the progress of this magnificent new Domus Dei as it rises, my natural professional inclination is to instantly ask if Sacrosanctam Concilium will be heeded/respected and a genuine, wind-blown pipe organ be installed, or will they be contacting the musical equivalents of McDonald’s (i.e. Allen) or Burger King (i.e. Rodgers) and grabbing the latest #5 “value organ”?
