Director of Music - Our Lady of the Fields, Millersville, Maryland
  • Our Lady of the Fields Catholic Church located in Millersville, Maryland is seeking candidates for a Director of Liturgical Music. The parish is currently seeking applicants who have a passionate love for Jesus, joyful fidelity to the Catholic faith, and a desire to evangelize through beauty in the liturgical rites of the Roman Catholic Church.

    The parish is a vibrant community striving to become a sign of God’s loving presence to one another and to the world around us. Our parish’s purpose is to form missionary disciples of Jesus Christ who joyfully live out the Gospel. In particular, we care deeply to offer our parishioners vibrant and reverent masses and liturgies which, through hymns that glorify God, lift everyone’s heart in prayer and leads all people to a deeper understanding the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.

    Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
    • Select and plan music for Sunday, funerals, weddings, Holy Days and other special services/liturgies in accord with the GIRM and other liturgical norms.
    o Meet and Coordinate Music needs for funerals and weddings.
    o Prepare funeral programs and worship aids as needed.
    • Participate in the creative planning of the Sunday and special services with the Pastor, Associate Pastor, Head Sacristan and other Staff Members, as appropriate.
    • Coordinate, support, and recruit for various music groups of the parish.
    • Participate in the life and ministry of the parish.
    • Organize and maintain a robust music library.
    • Assure & maintain compliance with all licensing issues for music and live-streaming.
    • Develop and monitor maintenance for pianos, organ, and church-owned musical instruments and equipment.

    Qualifications:
    • Authentic fidelity Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
    • Dependable, responsible, self-motivated, creative, sense of humor and positive attitude.
    • Attested musical skills especially professional skills with piano and organ.
    • Knowledge of wide repertoire of music including tradition hymns and contemporary music.
    • Ability to organize, coordinate, and motivate musicians and technical team members.
    • Committed to (and love and respect for) the church's vision, leadership, staff, volunteers, and parishioners.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Music (preferred)
