Does anyone have any actual information as to how these new appointments (they look like promotions from within) will impact music?

Can’t say I know too much about him, but Roche was bishop of Leeds from ‘04 to ‘12, whose cathedral has a strong music program that features regularly on the BBC. He was also chairman of ICEL during that time and led the translation effort of what became the 2011 Roman Missal. Benedict appointed him secretary of CDW in ‘12. All things considered he seems like a decent pick.

Archbishop Roche seems like a good choice based on what is said here. If Pope Benedict thought he was good liturgically, that is good enough for me.

Side note: it says that Msgr Marcias is appointed with Episcopal Character. What does that mean?
