Help Identifying Chant for Ordinations
  • Hive mind question: I have been trying to track down the origin of two settings of Roman Missal antiphons for the Ordination of Priests. I have used them, and I know I originally had them in a square-note notation; I've transcribed and accompanied them for the benefit of other organists. I got them from one of our priests, who got them from someone else, and long story short I can't find where they originated. Anyone know? I'm not seeing them in the RM itself or any appendixes; I know they are not Meinrad. I'd like to acknowledge them properly if possible. Attached here.

FYI: I paired them with my own psalm tones; I'm just asking about the antiphons.

    Thanks!

  • The first antiphon is perhaps a hybrid of several existing melodies, including Et Valde Mane Sabbatorum from the Easter Vigil.
  • Here is the original chant notation, in case the visual cue helps.

  • Thanks - very helpful! That is the Introit; does anyone know where the Communio is from? Attached again here in chant version.

I'm not sure which version this communio is from, but the incipit is
Euntes in mundum. Mk. 16:15; Mt. 28:20 which will help you search for it.
