Gift for a New Priest

Can anyone make a suggestion for an appropriate ordination gift, from the musicians in a parish, for a young man who seems to have all the right instincts, if not, perhaps, the right liturgical formation?
(Anything with any reference to the EF would be out of the question.)

How about a subscription to Sacred Music?
  • How about a copy of Missa Cantata from Priory Press?

I wouldn't give the "Missa Cantata" until it gets revised per the new ICEL translation.

How about a scholarship to the colloquium (or does that contain too much EF to be P.C.)?

I would gladly make him a handcrafted rosary.

  • I would give the Missa Cantata now because the new translation won't be a reality for two or three years -
that is enough time for a brand new priest to develop NOW good liturgical habits and learn to sing the mass as it should be sung.
(Now is this time for him to be... I believe the word is... 'inculturated', and properly so.
