I am getting ready to start working on this with my choir for Ash Wednesday and general use throughout Lent. I would love to hear any ideas to polish it up before I distribute it.
Quick question: why do you use a-flat in one bar and g-sharp in the next bar? [There could be a good reason, but I can't see it, so I'm hoping to be edumacated.]
I was considering the A-flat to be a nonharmonic neighbor tone, referencing the opposite mode's iv chord. The next measure I considered the note to be a leading tone in a dim-vii of vi chord, so I wrote G#.
