As sung by my high schoolers this morning

Written to be learned very quickly, but simple and effective. Composite translation, mostly NAB.

"A voice in Ramah is heard,
sobbing and loud lamentation;
Rachel weeping for her children.
She will not be consoled,
since they are no more."

I have only one suggestion: the final notes could be even more dramatic if the C resolved upward, leaving an open G chord.

Ripped my guts out when I first heard it as we were sight-reading it in the reverb tunnel of the basement hallway. It gave voice to the sorrows of my heart in a uniquely piercing manner.
