In reading Maria von Trapp’s several books, I learned that when the family fled Austria, the local bishop allowed Fr. Franz Mathias Wasner (1905 – 1992) to accompany them as spiritual adviser and conductor. He traveled to the States with the family, and was the resident priest at the family camp they established (I think in Stowe, Vermont); a little chapel was built there, and until the end of the war, there were evening prayers for the troops and Benediction
I was also interested to learn that (in addition to several Masses and many hymns) Fr. Wasner wrote an additional verse to the 14th century German carol, Quem Pastores Laudavere. I set it as 3rd verse into a Finale PDF.
So - since it’s still Christmastide - attached (I hope) is my Christmas gift to you: another verse to Quem Pastores
PS - if anyone knows of a source for some of his other works, would be glad to see that posted to this forum.
