Confusing OF with EF? Septuagesima is not on the liturgical calendar...

Somebody is assuming that the OF uses English and the EF uses Latin, which is largely correct I suppose.

Oh well, it's not a surprise when Epiphany is on the THIRD of January instead of the SIXTH.

The Latin includes Septuagesima, but what if a RotR parish wants to use Latin, and doesn't celebrate Septuagesima?

It's not really fair to say that the one is a translation of the other. One may be an adaptation for a particular circumstance (the use of the proclamation at OF Masses, in English), I suppose.

I set the 2021 Epiphany Proclamation in Latin for the Ordinary Form to music. See also the 2008 Missale Romanum, pp. 1247-1248. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome; counting in Latin is not my strongest point. The recordings of recent years from the Vatican, available on YouTube, have some small deviations from the missal, which I have adopted here (added 'erit' before 'dies Cinerum', and used 'do-ti-la-ti-do-la' for the date of Pentecost, instead of 'do-ti-do-la')

Off topic: I don't think that a parish that chooses to sing this proclamation in Latin is necessarily a RotR parish. To the contrary, singing the proclamation (even in Latin) is just a very normal, say-the-black-do-the-red thing to do.

Let me clarify. While Pope Paul VI required that the congregations be able to make their responses in Latin, they also reformed both the liturgy and the calendar, in such wise that announcing the date of a festival one no longer celebrates because, in obedience to the reformers' diktats, the festival no longer exists. Singing this proclamation in Latin, with the non-existent feast prominently announced, would seem schizophrenic.

As of today USCCB still has 2023 dates! I filled in the blanks from my calendar this weekend and sang not from the Ambo but a 'suitable place'. Not all NO priests are used to the Proclamation, and Fr. added the transferred date of Baptism before picking up the thread of his homily.
