The Church of Saint Sebastian, Providence, RI is in need of an Organist and Director of Music. The Parish gives great attention to the Music and Liturgy of the Church. A part-time position, the compensation is generous for the hours required and the area in which the Church is located. The Parish Repertoire is mainly drawn from the Saint Michael Hymnal, the music of Brian Michael Page and Richard Rice. The Parish employs an excellent cantor. For further information, or to submit a resume, please contact Fr. Jordan Kelly, O.P. at pastor@stsebastianri.org
To follow up: I asked the pastor for some more information, which he kindly provided. I'm summarizing it here:
The parish has about 320 families, and attendance at the Sunday/Saturday Masses before the pandemic shutdown was around 270.
The organ, a Rodgers digital-and-pipe combination built around 1990, is in need of revoicing.
The parish has had ad-hoc adult choirs for Christmas and Easter. There is a beginning level children's choir, with considerable room for growth if the kids can be won over from their competing activities: many attend private schools in the neighborhood.
