Chant teaching videos for kids
  • Hello,
I am an amateur organist and run an amateur chant schola. (Meaning that we have been chanting together and teaching ourselves for about 5 years. We have attended several workshops, etc... We're not bad given where we started!) Next year, I am going to be teaching 8 boys a Latin class as part of our homeschool group. I plan to include some chant. I can certainly teach them on my own. However, I'm looking for supplementary videos that would be interesting for approximately junior high aged kids. Is there anything out there? Free on YouTube or to purchase, either way.
    Thanks!

I don't know if this is helpful to your direct question, but it might be good background in any case. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-edc4nsbneVDKn7yPHrLtdmzr23dwtHm
  • Thanks. I have heard of the Ward method, but will go through these videos to learn and see if they would be good for our group. Good to know these videos are online!

In case you might find in-person teaching helpful for the children, CMAA publishes a chant instruction program, "Words with Wings"; it includes an instructor guide, learners' workbooks, and audio examples. There's more information at
