According to the Roman liturgical calendar, today is the leap day. Not being the 29th of February, it kind of creeps up on you, and I almost missed it! My notes HERE (re-post of a blog post I put up last time around).
yes, though there was not universal agreement whether the day inserted was what we in our current calendar would now call the 24th or the 25th of February. The Roman sanctoral calendar eventually settled on the former interpretation. IIRC, an annex/appendix (one of many) in The Oxford Companion to the Year: An Exploration of Calendar provides a nearly exhaustive overview of this trivia tidbit.
