St. Barnabas Catholic Church, a 1300+ household community on the south side of Indianapolis, IN is seeking a full-time Director of Music.
The qualified applicant should be a professional who holds specialized credentials in music and who has a thorough understanding of Catholic liturgy. This person of faith is responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and execution of music within the liturgical celebrations of the parish, including accompaniment and choral direction.
A successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic with a commitment to the principles and tradition of Catholic liturgy, especially those laid out in the documents of Vatican II and the General Instruction of the Roman Missal. Strong musical proficiency in keyboard is required. Vocalist preferred but not required. Bachelors degree in music or other equivalent academic background in liturgical music required; graduate study is a plus. Requires strong pastoral skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Pastor, staff and parishioners.
