Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, Joliet, IL The Cathedral Choir of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus is in need of lay clerks to join our Music Ministry. Lay Clerks are funded positions given to professional choral musicians upon a successful audition. Lay Clerks are professional men and women recruited to assist and provide musical leadership within The Cathedral Choir. Alongside members of the parish, Lay Clerks act as assistants to the director of music, section leaders, and fulfill other duties as assigned by the Director of Music. These positions are given during or prior to the academic year. Auditions take place the first week in September and throughout the year as needed. Positions are held from September through mid-June and may be renewed for successive years if both the Lay Clerk and the Director of Music mutually agree. Lay Clerks of all voice parts (SATB) are currently needed.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in music (preferred) Previous professional choral singing experience High level of musicianship and skill Knowledge of choral singing and ability to collaborate with others Good communication skills Dependable leadership skills
