Most people involved in church music in the United States will be aware of Leo Nestor and his work at the National Shrine among many other places, as well as his compositions, etc. He was one of the founding members of the Conference of Roman Catholic Cathedral Musicians.
I was surprised to learn this. Dr. Nestor was a gracious host to me several times when I visited the Shrine. I was able to play the instruments and enjoy good conversation with him. It is a deep loss for the American Catholic Church. Requiescat in pace.....
Praying for the repose of his soul. He was a seminal influence on my musicianship... and (as anyone who sang for him could attest) my vocabulary. A complex, consummate church musician who got the most out of his musicians (or else!).
