    My wife and I will be in LA this weekend and I'm looking for a Vigil Mass either on the Eastern part of LA or further east along Route 66 (as far as Barstow). Good preaching, good music, no silliness...I don't ask for much! :)

    Try St. Therese in Alhambra. It's east of LA and, for what you're looking for, that's the best option for miles and miles around. Saturday evening anticipatory Mass is at 5:00 p.m. Latin High Mass (EF) on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., if you can stick around for that.

    I second that. The 1pm Mass at St Therese is beautiful and always a solid homily.
