Mater Misericordiae Catholic Church, 1537 W. Monroe St., Phoenix, has an immediate opening for a tenor section leader. We've been looking for someone for four months; our needs have changed slightly because of new volunteers, and I'm hopeful that this will be a good fit for someone. The mixed choir is usually scheduled to sing only two Sundays per month (three when there are five Sundays in the month) but will sing every Sunday in June this year because of the number of feast days falling on Sundays. In addition to being a good reader and blending well with the ensemble, you must be able to sing with a straight tone and be available for both Easter and Christmas. Rehearsals every Tuesday 6:30-8:15 p.m. with 10:25 a.m.-12:25 p.m. Sunday commitment (usually first and third Sundays of the month). Pay is $50 per call. There are regular opportunities to sing for holy days, weddings, and funerals. Additional compensation may be possible in the future if also available to participate in the men's schola cantorum, which sings every Sunday throughout the year plus 6:30 p.m. First Fridays, holy days, weddings, and funerals, with two weekly rehearsals: Wednesday 7:15-8:30 p.m. and Saturday (except first Saturday of the month) 8:45-10:00 a.m. (At present, the schola membership is at capacity.)
