Mark Your Calendars: Sacred Music Retreat, August 2019
  • Mark your calendars!!

The successor event to the Sacred Music Retreat hosted last year in Melbourne, KY by the Cincinnati Oratory, will be hosted this coming summer by the choirs of St. Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church in picturesque Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, supported by other area choirs.

Retreatants will have the option of arriving on the evening of Thursday, August 15th, where they are invited to begin their weekend in prayer by attending a Solemn Mass for the Assumption of the B.V.M. in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite (the anniversary of St. Mary's splendid edifice's consecration) featuring repertoire including the Coronation Mass of W.A. Mozart, Fr. Nunes Garcia's "Tota Pulchra Es," and Anton Bruckner's magnificent "Ave Maria," sung by the Sleepy Eye Mozart Chorus and Orchestra.

Those with parish obligations on August 15th are invited to arrive on Friday, August 16th, when the retreat will begin in earnest with spiritual conferences, sung liturgy, and choral rehearsals facilitated by world-class directors, culminating in splendid sung liturgies at St. Mary's on Sunday, August 18th and on Monday, August 19th (possibly in a different location TBD). Check out will be on Tuesday morning, August 20th.

Retreatants will be staying at the idyllic Schoenstatt-on-the-Lake Retreat Center in Sleepy Eye, whose beautiful grounds lie on the margin of Sleepy Eye Lake, with a picture-postcard shrine chapel available for Adoration and personal prayer, outdoor Stations of the Cross, and wooded paths. Meals will be provided through the retreat center, and time will be allotted to enjoy the beautiful grounds and devotional opportunities of the Retreat Center.

Please mark your calendars, and stay in tune in for more details on events, presenters, and registration process/costs very soon, as details are confirmed!
