St. Timothy parish is seeking a bass section leader for an adult choir which sings at the weekly 10:45 AM Mass on Sundays, as well as for major feasts throughout the liturgical year. The section leader will act both as a leader within and an advocate for the bass section will act as soloist for choral and service music, and will also be part of a smaller group within the choir which will prepare more difficult choral music.
Repertoire includes traditional hymns, Gregorian chant, English chant, and sacred polyphony in Latin and English.
The bass section leader must be willing to sing for Christmas Midnight Mass, for the Easter Triduum, and for special rehearsals (besides the regular Thursday rehearsals) leading up to these. He may also be called upon as a solo cantor for other parish Masses or for weddings and funerals, as opportunities arise.
For an audition, candidates must prepare a sacred aria of their choice, a traditional hymn (provided in advance), and a responsorial psalm (provided in advance).
