Book number three in my English Motets series is ready! Check it out!

    http://www.lulu.com/shop/heath-morber/everlasting-joy-in-you/paperback/product-23683434.html

This one is focused on adapting the 2- and 3-part motets of Orlando di Lasso. His duets are somewhat well-known but I was struck by the 3-pt pieces, nearly all of which I had never experienced.

Lassus is my GUY so this project was a labor of love. I've got 'em priced very affordably so you can enjoy them, too!

Here's a couple samples to give you the flavor of the collection; you can also find a fairly extensive sample at the Lulu link above:

Whoever Follows Me / Qui Sequitur Me (*edited w/better rendition)

We Adore You / Adoramus Te (I)

And if you listen to the end, you'll get a big clue to my next project! : )
  • This should be a welcome resource for many.
As one who normally looks askance at translated versions of historic literature, I am impressed with the musical and poetic sensitivity of these English versions.

My wife and I sing the two-part arrangements of Heath's Eucharist volume as other schola members receive HC (kneeling at the rail, btw) and we've always found the texts to roll off the tongue quite fluidly. Just ordered the new volume yesterday.

Jackson, I take your remarks as a very high compliment, indeed! Thank you for the kind words!

Melofluent, thank you for your support! I think you'll have a great interest in my next phase. Coming soon! : )

Janet, I look forward to some of your recordings of the pieces!

Irishtenor, thank you! My recording engineer has some special software to make even a schmo like myself sound good. : )

(speaking of which, he gave me a better-edited version of the Qui Sequitur that I'll post soon...)

Hello friend Heath (Charles from California here)- My copies just arrived. A very cursory look through the two part section is very encouraging. There appears to be a higher level of intricacy with these DiLasso's, so we'll have to rehearse them with purpose!

PS- were you a point guard for the Fighting Illini (sp) in an earlier lifetime? You stud, you.

Chuck, glad your copies made it in one piece and hopefully unscathed!

Yep, these are wonderful, but hardly sight-readable. : ) Isn't the Qui Vult wonderful?? Those syncopations in the middle are so much fun to sing. I appreciate your kind words and encouragement, as always.

Toddevoss, thank you! I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm so grateful for my student who is helping me record them. I hope you get a chance to sing/hear them in Mass sometime!

    Another recording to share!

I'm very blessed to have so many fine singers here where I work...the young lady, Maggie, who sang this one with me has a bright future ahead of her!

Exaudi Me Domine from my Lassus collection. Enjoy!
