Workshop: Introduction to Gregorian Chant

Join Mater Dei Music Director, Patrick Torsell, for a one-day intensive Gregorian Chant Workshop, geared toward adults wishing for an introduction to reading, interpreting, singing, and directing Gregorian Chant. This workshop is open to anyone with an interest in Gregorian Chant. An organ concert will follow the workshop at 4:30pm. Organ Concert

Come enjoy grand organ works of Bach, Widor, Franck, Dubois, and Kellner on the spectacular 28-rank Felgemaker/Brunner organ in the Gothic Revival St. Lawrence Chapel in Harrisburg, PA, performed by Mater Dei Music Director, Patrick Torsell. All are welcome, and admission is free, but a free-will collection will be held to support the parish in its continued efforts, including its growing music program.

Sacred Music History Conference

Journey through 1200 years of Catholic liturgical history covering the changes and styles of music used in the liturgy over that time. Conference begins at 7pm in the parish Social Hall. Vocal Pedagogy Conference

Dive into a scientific examination of the voice and how it works when speaking or singing. Amateur and professional singers alike have found this course to benefit them, and the science is fascinating for anyone, singer or not! Conference begins at 7pm in the parish social hall. Children's Gregorian Chant Camp
7/30 - 8/3 | 9:00am - 2:00pm
Children and youth from any parish ages 7-18 are invited to join Mater Dei's 2018 Chant Camp! In this day camp, you'll learn chant, have fun, and share in the many fruits and blessings of the week! The choristers will share their newly acquired skills by singing for the High Mass celebrating the Feast of Saint Lawrence on Sunday, 8/5, at 10am. The camp will be held the week of 7/30, and will meet at St. Lawrence on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am-2pm (Wednesday is a day off).There will be a mandatory parent/volunteer planning meeting on Sunday, July 15, 2018 after the 10:00am Mass (approximately 11:15am).
