St. Francis of Assisi Parish in New Britain, CT is seeking a full time Director of Music Ministry. The Director of Music Ministry would be assume full responsibility to oversee and provide music for all liturgies at St. Francis Parish in keeping with the Catholic tradition of Sacred Music. This would include selecting music in consultation with the Pastor, preparing weekly worship aides to assist congregational singing, auditioning and rehearsing cantors, being present to conduct all music for Sunday and weekday liturgies as well as the Liturgy of the Hours and Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament as needed. Further, the Director of Music Ministry will be responsible for teaching appreciation for and proficiency in Sacred Music to interested members of the parish’s university community with the intention of forming a student schola cantorum. As part of the parish’s full time staff the Director of Music Ministry will be expected to maintain regular office hours, collaborate in the evangelization efforts of the parish, and when appropriate actively work with those who desire to know more about the Catholic Faith and the tradition of Sacred Music.
