3v Marian motets
  • Hi all, any suggestions for a motet for a trio of ladies for Immaculate Conception? Thanks!

  • There is also a two voice version by Orlando di Lassus, as well as another two voice - Balthasar-Florence... but this three-part arrangement of Tota Pulchra Es to an ancient melody has great potential. (Let me know if you'd like either or both of the 2-voice versions).

    Kevin Allen - O Sanctissima
There should be a bunch in the Secunda Anthologia Vocalis (PDF hosted at this site)
  • The Allen O Sanctissima is quite lovely!

  • I remember that Frank La Rocca did a choral setting on Sr GraceRemington's poem for a ladies' choir and it was really beautiful.

    O Eve!

My mother, my daughter, life-giving Eve,
Do not be ashamed, do not grieve.
The former things have passed away,
Our God has brought us to a New Day.
    See, I am with Child,
Through whom all will be reconciled.
O Eve! My sister, my friend,
    We will rejoice together
    Forever
    Life without end.

    What are their voice types?
  • Thanks for the suggestions! The Kevin Allen "O Sanctissima" is just what I was looking for. We began using his "Motecta" book this year and it's amazing. Just didn't realize he had that setting in the same book. Perfect! Thanks!
