ORDINARIATE ORDINATIONS - A First
  • The first three priests to be ordained in the Ordinariate received the laying on of hands at 6.30pm this evening of the Solemnity of Ss. Peter and Paul at Walsingham. There were about thirty or so priests from around the US and Canada participating.

One of the ordinands earned a degree from Nashotah House before becoming Catholic and going through St Mary's Seminary here in Houston, a stone's throw from Walsingham, and is being assigned to one of our parishes in New York.

All readings were sung, as was everything else, including the ten paragraph prayer of ordination.

*The ordination rite is that of the OF of the Roman rite. Our priests opted deliberately, as a sign of unity with Rome, not to have our own, although we could have. I must say, the switch from our liturgical English to that of the OF Roman rite is jarring and literarily inconsistent.

**The responsory, Magna opera Domini, (which is Bishops Lopes' motto) was commissioned for Bishop Lopes' ordination to the epsicopacy in A.D. MMXIV.

I recognized the Willan, since it was sung at now–Father Erdman’s ordination to the diaconate. What a happy day for the Community of Our Lady and St. John.

Is the video of the rite on-line?
  • I don't know, Chonak.
I'll have to look into that.

Yes, they livestream most major liturgies from OLW via Facebook Live which saves a copy. I wish people used Youtube instead, but YMMV.
