Introit - Quinquagesima or 6th Sunday

    If you're singing the Introit for Quinquagesima (or sang it yesterday for the 6th Sunday in Ordinal Time) from the Gregorian Missal, watch out for the Mode. My Gregorian Missal shows it as Mode IV, but the antiphon and verse end on Fa, and the psalm tone indicated is clearly Mode VI. So, if you'll be singing the doxology, it will also be Mode VI.

    funny thing, that... we sang it for the workshop this weekend and I was looking over it (from my Gregorian Missal) prior to and tried to add the mode IV Gloria Patri to it... just DIDN'T work :)

    Looking in the Graduale, of course, it is properly marked!

    that time of year again, but I believe the Sixth Sunday in Ordinal Time comes later this year.

    FYI - the new edition of the Gregorian Missal (corresponding to the revised English translation of the Mass) has corrected this.
