Not quite yet a composition in progress, but a vague coalescence of ideas between the ears. I am trying to confirm a Latin translation of Luke 23:34. The NIV parallel Bible gives "Pater dimitte ...", whereas other sources give "Pater, ignosce ..". Which is correct? Accepted that, if the ideas do come to fruition, either would fit & scan. Many thanks in advance.
That version is the translation 'into ciceronian latin' by Sebastian Castellio published in 1551. : Lk 23:34 Et Jesus: Pater, inquit, ignosce eis: nesciunt ,enim quid faciant.
