A congregational meeting was held yesterday to finally get serious about their financial problems. They've been using funds from endowments for the past three years, announced that the operating budget is $50K short this year, and if things continue this way, the endowments will be empty in two years time. The only relieving thing was knowing that they'd sooner shut the lights and heat off before they eliminate our music ministry, and we will NOT be first on the chopping block. Everyone has work issues, as I have definitely discussed some of mine here, but I can't stress how much I do enjoy my job there. Anyway, I pray we can find a solution and start doing things to grow the congregation and fix these problems. I do keep my eye out for job openings elsewhere, only because I've known about this situation for a while. I've had interviews, but I don't want to leave if I don't have to. What an awful situation. :(
