I think it is a good thing for this kyrie to be that short, not because of the congregation, but because of certain priests (actually about 100 % of the priests I know) who do not want the kyrie to be more than a few notes. They do not want long melismas at their Masses. They do not want any long musical anything at their Masses. You had better cut the hymn or chant when they are done with whatever liturgical action they happen to be doing, or else. They may do a long homily, but the music had better be short. The above short Orbis Factor Kyrie fits the bill very nicely.
