I am frantically looking for a descant, preferably with altered harmonization, a la David Willcocks, for "Angels we have heard". I haven't been able to find anything that I like so far, and was wondering if any of the composers here have tried their hand at it and would be willing to share. (I can only seem to get as far as writing "Angels we have heard -- Descant" on the page, and that's it.)
  • Salieri,

I'll have a go at it this weekend. How shall I send you my results for your consideration?

Chanticleer has a simple descant, though I don't believe it's something they've published (based on its non-appearance in their sheet music section of their site) so I don't know the source:

One can also search under the titles: Shepherds in Their Fields Abiding, and the original French, Les Anges dans Nos Campagnes

  • I'll write one tonight.
There ought to be a good one in some of the Oxford carol books.
