Passion Narrative: Palm Sunday (Matthew) and Good Friday (John)

    Is anyone aware of a book or other resource published that has the passion narratives notated to the traditional chant, in English (round or square notes, doesn't matter)?

    I have Fr. Sam Weber's PDF for the Passion of John but it would be too complicated for a relatively inexperienced deacon to read because it has all the parts and accompaniment together.

    You might try the Holy Week volume of the St Austin's Plainsong Missal from Lancelot Andrewes:

    I don't know for sure that the Passion narratives are there, but that's where I'd start looking. (I only have the Trinity Tide volume.)

    There are of course the settings of both St. Matthew and St. John in the choir edition of "Hymns Psalms and Spiritual Canticles." However, it uses the "old" NAB version; perhaps could be updated for the revised NAB version that is mandated now. It uses modern notation.

    I have a copy of the St. Meinrad publication : The Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ (according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) arranged for three cantors by Columba Kelly. It is written chant-style on a treble clef. It is all in English. Their publication of the exultet is also very nice (chant notation).

    You can find the Latin gospels on CMAA's chant book page, http://musicasacra.com/communio/ ,
    at "Cantus Passionis"; there you can download three books for three cantors (Narrator, Christ, Others). They are books for the old Mass and the old liturgical calendar, but the texts of the Gospels and the music are there.
