The Office of Campus Ministry at the University of Notre Dame is searching for a director for the University of Notre Dame Folk Choir.
The University of Notre Dame Folk Choir serves as one of the principal liturgical choirs in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, singing at the 11:45 a.m. Mass every Sunday throughout the academic year. They also lend their talents to dedication services, vespers, memorial liturgies, penance services, weddings, ordinations and a host of other worship celebrations that serve the campus community.
A vast knowledge of contemporary Roman Catholic liturgical music is essential.
Candidates should have experience working with college students and be able to function within a team of musicians and campus ministers.
Applicants must have a high level of musical excellence with a proven ability to plan, prepare and execute liturgies, concerts and tours, both domestic and international.
The director should be committed to his or her role as a Campus Minister and the liturgical formation of choir members.
Finally, candidates must have a demonstrated ability to budget and steward resources so as to ensure an effective ministry. Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven musical leadership abilities with 8-10 years of experience in Roman Catholic liturgical music either in a parish or university setting.
A Master’s Degree in Music is required as well as highly proficient keyboard, vocal and conducting skills.
