I Was Glad (Parry) for SATB?

Has anyone come across an SATB version, rather than the original SSATTB? I'd love to teach it to my choir, but we don't have enough singers for the six parts. Thanks!
  • Joried,

You'd damage the original if you reduced the parts.

Actually, the work in question is for double choir, SATB.SATB, with some SSATTB and SATB tutti (and semi-chorus) sections.
  • Charles,

Of course, if it's impossible for the choir to sing two different pitches at the same time on two distinct syllables, this only compounds the problem of trying to reduce the parts.

I don't have enough singers for all those parts, either. However, I would disagree with the statement, "You'd damage the original if you reduced the parts."

I like this piece very much, but it isn't on the level of Holy Writ delivered by the hand of God on a smoking mountaintop. Many of us adapt works frequently to make them fit our resources. I don't see anything wrong with that and if you find a decent SATB version, please share it.
