Saint Benedict parish in Richmond, VA seeks a full-time choirmaster/organist to begin on May 1, 2016 or earlier. The parish is a traditional community of 600 families that celebrates three weekend Masses according to the Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite. Music includes the Ordinary of the Mass sung in Gregorian chant according to English and various Latin settings, proper texts, and hymns. The parish has a Pasi Organ (two manual, tracker action, II/P, 24 stops), two choirs (adult and children), and values the beauty of the sacred liturgy. This position will also plan, prepare and perform for school masses, Holy Days, weddings and funerals. Applicants must have mastery of the organ and be able to lead and foster the development of cantors and choir members. Experience with Adobe desktop publishing products is desired (used in the preparation of worship aids).
This is a full-time position with benefits offered through the Catholic Diocese of Richmond, which currently includes a matching 403(b) retirement and pension plan, along with medical, dental, vision and life insurance. The salary range is $50,000 to $55,000.
