  • Curious...
    Thou knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts;
    shut not thy merciful ears unto our pray'rs;
    but spare us, Lord most holy, O God most mighty.

    O holy and most merciful Saviour,
    thou most worthy Judge eternal,
    suffer us not, at our last hour,
    for any pains of death, to fall from thee. Amen.

    Tu, Domine, qui cognoscis occulta cordium nostrorum, noli claudere aures tuæ misericordiæ ad preces nostras, sed parce nobis, Sanctissime Deus, fortis, misericors Salvator, et judex æquissime, ne derelinquas nos in hora mortis nostræ.

    Odd it doesn’t quite say the same thing at the end, though.

    Poetic injustice?

  • Cordis intima nostri cognovisti, Domine;
    A nobis supplicibus ne occluseris aures tuas
    Immo nobis parce, Dominator Domine Deus.

    O sancte et clementissime Salvator,
    Tu dignissime in saecula Iudex
    Ne siris nos, prae exitus doloribus nostri,
    de Te labi in ultima hora. Amen.
