Estêvão Lopes Morago, De Profundis

Those of you with choirs able to sing SATB a capella music might consider writing yourself a note for next year: look into the Morago De Profundis for the Offertory of OT 33/Pentecost XXIII. A lovely piece of music with some very refreshing dissonance, it'll give your congregation a different composer name to see in your worship aids and can be learned by even very limited choirs used to singing in four parts. The text painting is quite nice, in my humble opinion.

We used it in two ways:
At our televised Mass we sang the English version of the antiphon with 2 verses and then the Morago to almost perfect timing.
At our Solemn Mass we sang the Gregorian version of the Offertory followed by the Morago and needed only a short improvisation at the end to finish the Offertory.

Unlike the Palestrina De Profundis (which we did last year), there is plenty of time to also do the Gregorian or a congregational version of the chant before the polyphony, and thus might be useful for different situations, especially those that might have "requirements" to do something congregational in addition to choral music during the Offertory.
