All Saints propers/motets - Mikołaj Zieleński
  • I'm hunting down his Justorum animae and Beati mundo corde. I've found a few recordings on YouTube, but no scores in the usual places. Can anyone help?

Any other polyphonic motet for 4 voices you recommend for All Saints?
  • Zielenski's works are in Monumenta musicae in Polonia. Seria A (Krakow: PWM, 1966-)
We don't have them here, or I'd scan and send. Let me know where you are, and I might be able to point you to someplace close. PWM did offprints of some of these, though I didn't see those particular ones on OhioLink.

Surgite, sancti Dei by Michael Haydn.
  • Here are some 4v polyphonic pieces for All Saints. We are doing the first two tomorrow.

    Victoria - Christe Redemptor omnium
    Marenzio - O quam gloriosum
St.-Saens - Justorum animae (has organ accomp.)
Senfl - O quam gloriosum (ATTB)

It seems that so many of the available motets for All Saints are for five or more voices - I suppose that makes sense since much of what we have left from former centuries is from the larger churches where they had the funding for more singers.
  • Willan “O how glorious” is a nice, easy translation of “O quam gloriosum”.

Also, da Viadana “Exsultate justi” works, IMO.

There’s a page over at CPDL specifically for All Saints music, btw.
