Does anyone know of a pdf or have something they can copy of an Eastern Rite (preferably Greek) Christmas Chant in its native language? I have people here who can help me interpret and pronounce, but am struggling to find the resources. (I teach at an ecumenical high school with several Orthodox Christians who would love to see this sort of thing as a sort of 'opener' to our concert we're going to have.) I would obviously take a recording if you have that as well, but it's not necessary...
Other pieces on the docket: 'Verbum Caro Factum Est' by Hans Leo Hassler 'Laudate Pueri Dominum' by Michael Haydn 'Schoenstes Kindlein' 'Peng You Ting' (Chinese Christmas Carol for three-part women) 'In Mitten Der Nacht' 'Tu Scendi Dalle Stella' (arrangement by Bruce Larsen) 'Salvation is Created' (for 4-part men) 'O Magnum Mysterium' by Vittoria 'Glory to the Newborn King' by Morris 'Fantasia on Christmas Carols' by Vaughan Williams 'Halleluiah Chorus' from 'The Mount of Olives' by Beethoven
Although its more Tchesnokov and Russian, you might want to try his "God is With Us." It does require a tenor soloist, but is rather rousing. My choir (RC) did it as the beginning of an all Russian concert.
