Yes, very nice. Trouble is: Where do you program Marian pieces on Sundays? There are only a few Marian feasts through the year, and what, one or two on a Sunday? I have a rector that does not want Marian music unless the readings call for it.
ghmus7: In the score, this is stated as being the Offertorium for the Fourth Sunday of Advent. What better time could there be to sing this Ave Maria? I know of it being sung on Immactulate Conception. In Freiburg, Germany, I head the Bruckner 7-part Ave Maria sung at Communion of the Feast of the Assumption a number of years ago.
I'm more interested in the cantus firmus melody in the soprano line, as it seems possible that it is derived from some chant that I'm not familiar with.
