SW Minnesota: Parish Music Director
  • St. Mary’s, Sleepy Eye, Minnesota (pop. 3,600), a beautiful Catholic parish in rural southwest Minnesota, is seeking a Parish Music Director. He/she would be the primary organist, the parish Adult choir director, the Children's choir director, the High School Choir director (meets for 45 minutes M-F in the Parish school), the Schola instructor (this is a school Mass choir of mostly Sopranos and Altos with one rehearsal a week and 1 Mass a week, with once a month Sunday Mass commitment). There would also be a sister parish with some needs - school Mass weekly and possible introduction of choirs / organ at Sunday or Saturday Masses, as well as a possible music class within their small parish school, as schedule allows. Director will work with school music program and school staff to assist at school Masses as well as coordinate/schedule/train Parish volunteers, choir members, cantors, keyboardists and prepare engaged couples for their sacramental wedding.

Adult choir has a long history of singing hymns in English and Latin and is willing to relearn chant. There is a strong desire to maintain choral parts singing.

    Catholic liturgical experience required. Knowledge of a wide variety of liturgical and choral music prefered.
    Competent on organ / piano required. Experienced choral director desired. Teaching license in music prefered. Interpersonal and communication skills required. Salary DOE.
