I understand that St. Joseph's in Streetsville is a lovely parish. Father had Father Webber in a few years ago to teach his choirs about propers and chant. http://stjosephchurchstreetsville.blogspot.ca/
Two Anglican parishes (both Anglo-Catholic tradition) worth visiting: St. Thomas's Anglican Church, 383 Huron Street ( http://stthomas.on.ca/) and Healey Willan's (he was there for over 40 years) Church of St. Mary Magdelene, 477 Manning Ave. http://www.stmarymagdalene.ca/ The two churches are within walking distance of each other.
I visited Holy Family downtown for a Sunday morning EF sung Mass. Nicely done, fine organ playing. No polyphony, though :-/, and there wasn’t much effort toward facilitating congregational singing.
Then went to St. Ignatius in Mississauga. It was close to where I was staying.
Finally, to Holy Family Coptic Catholic. Very different, of course, but in a good way. :) The space is an old Presbyterian church that they refitted for Coptic liturgy … it’d be awesome to see what they’d do if they built their own building.
St. Michael’s Cathedral downtown was closed for renovations when I got there. I wasn’t able to visit St. Paul’s Basilica for Mass, but I did get to go inside … gorgeous space!!
Toronto has a bounty of Eastern Catholic parishes, in fact. Must take note to visit more of them when next I visit!
@canadash: I saw no indication of which Mass Ordinary was being sung, though they had PBC2 in the pews, so someone at some point thought Pius XII and St. Pius X were onto something :).
Also, very few of the people around me seemed to have singing much in their “process” of attending Mass.
