Deacon Ordination - Litany of the Saints
  • Hello, I was asked to chant the Litany of the Saints for a brother seminarian who is being ordained on August 8th. Does anyone know where I can find a copy of the Litany with the proper intentions for a Deacon's ordination in English? Thanks so much!

    Coreybruns, Here is a link to the Litany of Saints that I always use. It is the proper translation from ICEL's web site. I do not know if this can be used outside of the Easter Vigil but I have been using it. http://www.icelweb.org/musicfolder/openpdf.php?file=PaschalVigil.pdf

    The proper intentions for a deacon's ordination in English can be found here. The document says it's the 1975 ICEL translation; I'm not sure if this is the current translation.

    The text cited by @smvanrode is no longer the approved translation.

    You'd need to check the pontificale romanum, If I recall it's all there.
  • Here you go.

    @Tournemire

    That's for a baptismal liturgy, not for a diaconal ordination.

    No, @Jahaza, look down the second page of the PDF. The substitute final petitions for the dedication of a church or altar and the ordination of deacons, priests, or bishops are also provided.

    How about the Litany with proper intentions for a religious profession of vows?
  • Thanks so much! I just got another copy from a friend today as well. Peace!
