Would anyone know of a link or easy to locate resource to the pre-1955 sung Passion, particularly St John's for Good Friday? There were radical changes made in 1955, and by 1958 the distinction between the Passion and the Gospel had disappeared with the loss of the weeping tones.
I was just wondering if anyone knows of any English transcription of this including the "weeping" Gospel tone, or whether this tone can actually be used.
I see no reason why it can't be used, since it's in the Roman tradition...but I think that the best way to use it would be if a priest or deacon is the Chronista, since the Gospel of the Mass was the end of the Passion. Continuity and all.
