As I just finished saying on another thread, French traditional Catholics are tres au courant in matters liturgical. The FSSP France has just come out what looks like a beautiful CD and accompanying booklet teaching their people how to sing Sunday Compline according to the Extraordinary Form.

As soon as I can figure out how to order this from their French website, I hope to purchase this for our family.

Thanks! What needs to happen next is Compline for every day and an online ordo, because Compline makes different changes than the rest of the offices based on the sanctoral ranking. (Maybe the booklet would be enough so you could figure it out on your own). But it is nice they appeared to have included the seasonal/festal changes (hymn and short responsory).

I need to learn solfege though. It will make it easier and less dependent on the recording...

Thanks for the info on Compline, Matthew. I knew there were seasonal changes, but not about the different saints' days. This is all new to me; we are going to start with Sunday Compline once a month with a group of friends and go from there. I'm having a lot of difficulty ordering this on the French website. The only postage option I can access ends up costing about $50 total so I want to see if I can order it from the American branch of the Fraternity somehow.

    1. pre 1911-14 reform Sunday compline was used every day N.B. there was an extra psalm!
    2. After the reform (according to the LMS) it was permitted to continue the practice of only singing the (three) Sunday psalms
    3. Under the new scheme each day of the week had its own psalms. N.B. Feast days and certain octaves used the Sunday psalms.
    4. The Hymn changes according to the season / Feast, pre 62 certain Feasts / Seasons had their own doxology.
    5. There are other small changes for Advent / Septuagesima / Lent / Easter etc.
    6. The Easter Octave, Holy week and All Souls have special compline.

This is a good place for a common ordo and to see the various changes http://divinumofficium.com/cgi-bin/horas/officium.pl

N.B. My family sing Compline every night, we usually follow pre-1955 rubrics and calendar!
